Speaker: Alan Baxter, Managing Director, Rowan Glen

Rowan Glen is a yogurt producer located on the edge of the Galloway Forest in South-West Scotland. Their site in Palnure, has been producing yogurt for over 30 years, making it one of the longest established yogurt manufacturing sites in Scotland.

In 2023, Factory Manager Alan Baxter launched a management buy out following the closure of the factory by the previous owners in 2022.

Alan will share how he had to learn quickly as he rebuilt the business by, introducing new products, rebranding existing products and becoming a Living Wage & Living Hours employer.

Alan has worked in the dairy industry for 20 years and with Rowan Glen for 17 of those years as Production Manager, Factory Manager and now Managing Director and Shareholder. Qualified in Environmental Compliance, Health & Safety and Food Safety & Quality. More recently Alan has gained experience in being a business start up, sales & marketing and business finance.
