Grampian Fasteners

Founded in 1992, Grampian Fasteners provides industrial fasteners and associated tools and products to businesses.

Paula Duthie, Finance, Quality and Admin Manager, describes how the uncertainty of the current economic climate means the company’s current productivity focus is on their people resource. This includes boosting morale while building the desired culture so that everyone can work together with trust and a clear sense that their contributions are valued.

“We want to be able to provide a secure future for our staff as well as grow our business. At the end of the day it’s the people that make the difference.”

As a result of attending a Peer Works session on culture, the company has been undertaking more soft skills training and relationship building. Paula is exploring ways to support leadership and team development, starting with the top team, and hopes to bring her coaching qualification into play to support this work.

The Peer Works session on culture helped to provide more insight and structure for the changes the company would like to see.

In addition, after Paula mentioned a Peer Works session on AI, the Managing Director has now signed up for a course on the topic. This is an area the company feels it needs to investigate as part of innovations in productivity, and Peer Works has provided the nudge to explore this further.

Paula and her colleagues at Grampian Fasteners will continue to attend Peer Works events and are looking forward to an upcoming webinar—Balancing Costs and Carbon—to hear more about ways to reduce their carbon footprint for the future.

“Peer Works helps us to consider tools and techniques to help our understanding of what we could do differently. It’s great to hear what works for other people and what could make a difference for us too.”
