Lantra Scotland
Lantra Scotland is a charitable organisation providing a training and advisory service to support businesses in the land-based, aquaculture and environmental sector.
Liz Barron-Majerik, Scotland Director for Lantra, values the opportunity to learn from other businesses that the Peer Works events bring.
“As a charitable organisation, working with a very specific sector, we can sometimes be a little isolated in terms of our connections to businesses out-with our sector. These events help with understanding the context in which our client businesses work.”
Productivity is important for Lantra Scotland. As a charity, there is understandably a strong focus on the achievement of aims and objectives. They value the opportunity to find out more about alternative approaches to achieving goals. They are increasingly required to provide evidence of impact and value for money, which means productivity must be demonstrated without placing undue additional time pressures on staff.
Liz feels that Peer Works events help to provide validation of what they are doing, as well as offering opportunities to learn from others and exchange ideas.
Liz also describes the value of being able to network and make new connections, either for the benefit of Lantra Scotland or for its clients. At a Fair Work event, a connection was made with someone at the University of Dundee, which led to a student traineeship that has proved very successful.
Liz will continue to attend Peer Works events. She appreciates the topics that are covered and shares the learning not only with her team but also with her clients.
“Peer Works gives us the opportunity to learn from the experience of others who are not in our sector and the events are of a manageable size to be able to make useful connections.”
