The Melting Pot

As the centre for social innovation in Scotland, The Melting Pot’s vision is a world with a vibrant, creative, resilient and impactful social innovation community.

Sam Ross, Business Development Manager at The Melting Pot, describes how the organisation drives this vision through coworking, their flagship Bridging Communities events—which bring the public, private, third sector and academia together—their Good Ideas incubator, and TMP Consultancy, delivering people, place and productivity solutions.

Sam describes two areas of productivity focus for The Melting Pot:

“For us, productivity means ensuring people are able to work most effectively – how do we ensure that one person’s ‘best’ matches others’ versions of productivity.”

“We like thinking and working differently, respecting new ideas and considering how we can make collective change for social good as individuals and organisations.”

Sam feels that Prosper’s values and productivity focus align closely with those of The Melting Pot and attends Peer Works events to connect with other businesses, welcoming the cross-sector environment they create.

As a result of attending Peer Works, The Melting Pot has benefited from developing its network. They were able to use new connections with Peer Works members in a focus group prior to launching TMP Consultancy in the private sector. The Melting Pot has also collaborated on delivering events.

Sam will continue to attend Peer Works events.

“Peer Works provides access to new opportunities and the events are of a size where you can make meaningful connections.”
